About Me

Hello there! My name is Carol Domanko and I live in beautiful Kelowna, BC, Canada. This website is a culmination of what I've learned over the last decade, combining my passion for yoga and mindfulness with my creative, artistic side! And I'm so glad you're here!

After graduating university with a major in Film Production from UBC in Vancouver, BC, I moved to Kelowna and took up yoga. I absolutely fell in love and ended up getting my first yoga teaching certificate in 2011. Since then, I've done many more trainings and taught yoga everywhere I can: in the park, at rehabilitation centres, to pro athletes at major sporting events, in studios, and in people's homes. The biggest lesson I've learned so far along my yoga journey is how much moving the body can effect energy levels, mental health, and help to unlock our creative energy - the Shakti energy. 

I created Shakti Bling because I love to create, to connect to nature, and to find ways to sneak mindfulness into every day life! In the beginning, I never had the intention to start a business. I made malas for myself, friends, and family, and pretty soon had people asking me if I would sell my jewelry. I set up some social media accounts, participated in a few local markets, and the rest is history! I now have my product in several yoga studios and shops, I host workshop events that teach people about the making and meaning of mala (usually with a glass of wine in hand!) and I have the privilege of creating custom orders for people all over the world. I feel it is my purpose to bring people together, and to spread the message that everyone is creative. I truly believe that creativity is not a luxury, but a necessary part of whole health and wellness.

When I'm not teaching yoga or making malas, you can find me hiking mountains, riding my bike, taking in some live music, writing my blog, creating paintings, or lounging on the beach with my friends! I get a lot of my inspiration from nature and the amazing people in my life.
